In each of these instances it is clear that a Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ to call ourselves a Christian we should be loyal to Christ.
Our Christian religion, which is based on Jesus Christ our only Savior and Mediator Between God and the sin of man.
Most religions are based on the life of their founder, Christianity however is based on the Death and Resurrection.
Isaiah 53:12
Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and make intercession the transgressors.

Jesus became Sin for us and therefore he took on our Guilt and our punishment. If we based our beliefs just on his death we still would not be much different than any other religion but Jesus defeated death. He proved he was the Son of God by his Resurrection.
Today Christianity has lost some of its meaning, people claim to be Christians because they are not Jewish or Moslem, etc., We need to put Follower back into the meaning of Christian without that word to be a Christian is no more than a word.
Galatians 2:16
know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified.
